Shanty Town – Fall
September 1 - November 18
As one of our fundraisers, Shanty-Town aims to raise funds and awareness primarily for homelessness. The event is held overnight at churches in the local area, where groups and individuals make shelters out of cardboard and tape, then sleep in them for the night.
This activity builds community while also lobbying for the homeless and poorly housed people all across Wisconsin, and the world. Shanty-Town encourages empathy, and strengthens the community’s mindfulness to the quality of life, sense of home, and dignity that every individual deserves, despite economic background or current financial situation.
Shanty-Town is held twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Proceeds go towards Cornerstone programs and new home builds.
